The cerebellum is responsible for coordinating both motion and balance. It is located at the back of the skull, just above the neck, and is partly overlapped by the cerebral hemispheres. It contains some of the most complicated nerve cells in the brain, each with up to 10 000 synapses to other cells, and allows you to perform habitual tasks, such as walking or cycling , without conscious thought.
